THE NORWOOD CLUB

No. 241 West 14th Street New York City

Last weekend, we had the awesome opportunity to collaborate with one of our favorite photographers in one of Manhattan’s most amazing spaces.
Photo Pink and Norwood are the perfect match: both the studio and the venue are distinctive, chic, sophisticated, and a little avant garde.

The Norwood House is a New York City landmark — literally. The residence, circa 1847, is recognized by the New York City Preservation Commission and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Norwood is elegant, yes — and luxe! Brownstone, stained glass, cast-iron, mahogany, intricate crown molding and Carrarra marble all vouch for the clout and cache of these four storeys. But, while immaculately maintained and remarkably preserved, there’s nothing staid or conservative about this Victorian beauty, which features Greek Revival and Italianate architecture.

The “Club,” the state-side sister of Blacks in London, is a rendez-vous point for creatives; painters, musicians, writers, fashion designers, and collectors. Owners Alan Linn and Steve Ruggi collaborated with Simon Costin to update the space, but they did it with integrity — and plenty of sex appeal. With a rich, decadent palette and textures, the urban, edgy design pushes the envelope just far enough… and the colorful history of the house only adds to its singular and sensual ambiance.

So when Photo Pink asked if we wanted to do a behind the scenes shoot for their Bridal Fashion Shoot at the Norwood Club, our answer was a quick and easy YES!
Liesl and Randy created the mood, in keeping with the unique aesthetic of the space.

They wanted to play it a little naughty and a little nice…
